A book trailer is an advertisement for a book which employs techniques similar to those of movie trailers. The book trailer can use still images, video or a combination of both. A good book trailer will present the book's main characters and key events in such a visual way that the viewer feels compelled to read the book.

It is important to note that a book trailer is not a book review.

Your book trailer should:

  • use relevant photos and/or video to show some main ideas or events from the story

  • present information in a compelling way using a combination of text and/or narration

  • use music to create a mood

  • name the book and show a photo of the cover

  • be submitted in a video format e.g MPEG, MP4, WMV or AVI

  1. No more than 5 entries for each section (i.e. Y 1-3; Y 4-6; Y 7-8) will be accepted from each school

  2. It is our understanding that in order to use commercial music, a school must have a copyright license. Youtube may block videos containing commercial music without establishing whether the creator of the video actually has this license. Schools participating in the InspireNet Manawatu Digi Awards wishing to use copyright music in entries have been asked to make sure they hold a copyright license.
